          Description

The well-known custom of presenting a white khata is a positive start to any relationship and indicates the good intentions of the giver. The Tibetan khata is offered to teachers, as well as images and devotional statues. At Tibetan weddings, guests offer khatas to the bride and groom. Each khata is silkscreened with Buddhism's Eight Auspicious Symbols.

The Eight Auspicious Symbols — a parasol, a pair of fishes, a treasure vase, a lotus flower, a conch shell, an endless knot, a victory banner, and a golden wheel — represent the offerings made to Shakyamuni Buddha upon his enlightenment.

          Silkscreen printed on rayon.

          Approximate measurements: 14' W x 72' L.

          Made in Nepal.
