          This graceful depiction of Kuan Yin, the female form of the Buddha of Compassion, is holding a vessel which contains the elixir of compassion. On top is a tiny lotus; the symbol of the transmutation of passion into discriminating awareness, as well as purity and enlightenment. The little lotus is nourished and sustained by the elixir of compassion.
