Seated Avalokiteshvara Statue

Avalokiteshvara (Kannon) is the Bodhisattva of compassion, the one who hears the cries of the world. 

Part of our Tenkozan: Made on the Mountain collection, this statue is an original design from the Monastery Statuary. They are cast from natural white gypsum cement and hand-painted in a variety of colors, including indigo from our own indigo plants. Each statue is embedded with a teaching scroll from Shugen Roshi, Abbot of the Monastery.
