          Description

Statue of sitting Buddha, elevated on top of a lotus flower.

Shyakyamuni Buddha is portreyed sitting in meditation in his the famous lotus asana, his hands in Bhumiparsha mudra or earth touching mudra. This mudra is symbolic of Buddha's moment of enlightenment , as he touches the earth to witness this moment. Buddha's perfect  body achieved through  years of yogic practise and dedicated astecism, is reflected in his perfect sitting posuture. Significantly, the Buddha is elevated on top of lotus flower, a key symbol in Buddhist iconography and many regard as the king of all flowers. The lotus has many symbolism behind, however in Budhism it represents purity and has become a perfect metaphore of Buddha's englightenment. In early Buddhist carvings, the lotus flower was representative of prosperity and abundance.

Note: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
