When Malik was asked, 'Whose Maghazi should we write down?' He would say, 'You should rely on the Maghazi of Musa b. 'Uqbah, for he is trustworthy.'

Mutarrif, Man, and Muhammad b. al-Dahḥāk narrated:

When Malik was asked about the Maghazi, he would say, 'You should rely on the Maghazi of the righteous man Mūsā b. 'Uqbah, for it is the most authentic of the Maghazi accounts.'

Muhammad b. Talhah said:

I heard Malik saying, 'You should rely on the Maghazi of Mūsā, for he is a trustworthy man. He sought it out in his old age to accurately record those who were present with Allah's Messenger, and he did not record excessively as others did.'
